I’m out!

September 29, 2009

I am off to sunny Florida for a few days-until October 6th. If you are interested in a session, email me and I will get back to you after I return. I am still booking for November but October is FULL. There is still room on the Mini Session Day…if you would like a spot there click on “specials” above for instructions.

Until next week…

I am in the sick ward.
I have 2 sick kids and a dog that is driving me absolutely insane. He had to go to doggie daycare today…I think he had a good time.
I am not a dr. But isn’t it funny that when you become a mom, you suddenly become this medical expert. I throw around terms like “incubation period” and “rapid strep test” like I am a real MD. I can diagnose an ear infection without all those fancy tools! Just give me the amoxicillin for crying out loud! This week’s diagnosis conundrum is, do we have swine flu, or H1N1, as they are now calling it. Fever? check. Sore throat? check. Cough? check. Runny nose? check. But no one in the dr’s office actually wants to SEE you, in fact, they discourage it. When I went there to get a seemingly helpful homeopathic remedy for $21.00, the sign outside said all children and parents with those symptoms must wear a mask. I made Sara wait in the hall. I felt bad making her feel like this diseased person. I mean really, what is everyone so worked up about? If you get this elusive swine flu…you will live. You might go crazy, inside for days on end…but you will live. Trust me, I’m a doctor.

Goooo me!

[I_Heart_Faces_HM.jpg]

I placed 7th in the I Heart Faces “Contemplative” category! There were 460 entries!

It is a good day today…unlike yesterday, when I was stung by wasps at a session.  We won’t talk about yesterday.  We will talk about today!  And today, I am a winner!

What I am working on this evening (should be upstairs watching Gossip Girl reruns, but what can you do)…totally captures what is happening at this client’s home right now.

Holiday Cards are here!

September 14, 2009

Happy Monday!
I have finished all the new holiday card templates and boy am I excited to cross that one off my list! Now we are ready to roll for the holidays.

To view:
Go to my site-click “portfolio site” above, and then click on client proofing.
To view single sided cards enter password “single”
To view double sided cards enter password “double”

For those of you participating in the fall mini sessions-your package includes 25 of the double sided cards. Additional sets are only $30.

For those of you doing regular sessions-I am pleased to announce SPECIAL discounted pricing on cards for this year. I know times are tough and we are all looking for the best deal-and I would love to be your one stop shop for holiday cards. Here’s the new pricing:

Single sided cards (5×7 on photo paper) are now $1.25 for the first 25 and $1.00 for any additional cards over that. Regularly $2.00 each-this is a steal of a deal!

Double sided cards (press printed on cardstock with a linen texture-VERY NICE) are now $50 for a box of 25, and then $30 for each additional set of 25! These were regularly $60 per set with no discount break- so again, a great deal.

Please note that at this special price there cannot be any layout changes on the existing templates-however, fonts, colors, wording may be changed.

And of course, no post would be complete without an image-so how bout one of my new fave holiday cards for this season:

Fun times in Lafayette

September 11, 2009

Starting my summer recap-this session was back in June! I went to a client’s house in Lafayette and boy was it worth the drive! The open space behind her house was like a photographer’s dream. I may have to go back there another day at 6pm just to see the lighting at that hour! I was dragging all my props and gear out there…determined to make use of such a fabulous field! Here is just a sample of what we got…

I am loving this…

and thinking about how wonderful grandparents are, like the ones whom I photographed with these kids at this session. More coming soon!   I’ll be recapping a wonderful summer of fun sessions.  Good night!

September 3, 2009

Few more from that session-love this family!  They came to see me in January for studio and then for outdoors in August.  They thought they were moving to Arizona…but lucky me, they aren’t!  So much fun to work with and they always embrace my crazy ideas.

Week 34-Before & After!

This is a non-judging week (although I haven’t won yet!–someday…) but a fun photo challenge. We are to share our “before” and “after” images to illustrate just how far we’ve come in photography. So please…be gentle. Here goes.

When I first started photographing my kids, and shortly thereafter as a “pro”-I thought the end all be all was black and white pictures on a black background. And when I was feeling crazy, I loved me some hand coloring. These were taken in early 2005, a couple months after I purchased my first digital SLR, the Canon 10D. Now I look at these and think…ick. BUT. You have to start somewhere! I adored these images of my girls:

These days…what I am doing looks a little more like this:

I originally thought myself a black and white photographer…but now I am in love with COLOR! I am constantly exploring new photoshop actions and lightroom presets. I love a 70′s vintage feel. I love a pop of color, an image that says wow. And that black background? Well, I do still use it occasionally for newborn sessions…but it often sits collecting dust in my storage area. Just goes to show you, times change, tastes change…and your photography can grow right along with it.
