a goat really has nothing to do with this. but how could i not post this image, i mean really.

Well, 3 months just evaporated, now didn’t it?

I had such high hopes for the fall.  Like, I would work and house hunt and make an offer on house and close on said house and move.  And then still have a life.

Well that didn’t happen.

I didn’t blog.

I didn’t see my family (well I did, but they were mostly looking at my back while I was on the computer)

I was crabby.

I got sick.

We did find the house of our dreams, and we did close (and boy was that painful…thank you mortgage crisis), and we did move.

So what have I learned from this?

I will never, ever (like ever) have a fall like 2012 again.  It was great to be so busy but I cannot be that busy.  I love you all…but there will be some changes (yes, price wise) and some hard limits put in place for this year.

I feel like I have started 2013 with a clean slate.  I am unpacking, and cleaning out, and organizing and prioritizing what needs to happen in my business.  All good things.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO SEE IN 2013:

Another installment of our Beginner Photography class on February 9th!  (this is a new date…originally was slated for 1.26)

Yes, price change…but in a good way.  I am not a volume business and I cannot lose sight of that.  My hope is to not only give you your digital files, but also include some fabulous product so that you can enjoy those images on your walls, or in an album.  I want to be able to give each and every client the attention they deserve and I can only do that by limiting the number of sessions that I take.

My name will be changing.  Meaning, my name (oh did I mention I got MARRIED in October, in addition to everything I mentioned above).  At this point, my business name is remaining the same.  But always know, regardless…it will be little old me behind the lens.  Doesn’t really matter what my driver’s license says.

If you are an existing client-and you are anxiously awaiting your cute little calendar that you get every year, it’s coming!  I promise.  Everything is ordered and should be here soon…and then off to each and every one of you.

Here’s to fresh starts and clean desks!

10 on 10-June

June 9, 2012

The people who know me the very best…these ladies.  We just returned from our annual trip–which we have managed to pull off, despite pregnancies and childbirth and all sorts of life events, for 16 YEARS.  We come from all over–Denver, Florida, Washington DC, Pennsylvania.  Not every one can make it every year, but boy do we try.

This year, as 4 of us are turning 40, I was reminded of just how special these weekends are.  We drink, we chat, we dissect everyone’s issues, we laugh, we cry…it is the most therapeutic time for me and I’m always wishing it was just one. day. longer.  So here’s to you ladies, and here’s my 10 on 10 for June.

Lovely ladies night 1 | House with a pool-always a plus | Our own private beach | Beautiful skies | Group shot while waiting for a cab | Me, relaxing poolside

Final night out at a bar | Rain every afternoon | Headed back from the beach | The gang

Realizing I haven’t blogged since April.  Whoa.  Sorry.  May is such a nightmare-any other moms agree with me?  It’s almost as bad as December.  Field Day, end of year this and that, bbq’s, dance recitals.  We are ready for some summer downtime and it starts on Saturday when we head to the beach!  Anyway….

One of the many things I love about my job, is watching children grow.  One minute they are a tiny baby and then the next they are running around, conversing with me, and talking about which princess they love.  With this family, it was even more special because I was able to reconnect with them after they moved away from Colorado.  We’ve now had 2 sessions in Central Park, NYC.  I love being able to go back to the old image files and see the changes, but yet that same face, still there.  And I wanted to share this photo history with you here…

what a week i’m having!

April 25, 2012

Well I promised myself to be a better blogger and share the little details of my life, so here goes.

I have had a rough week but also a great week.

Someone stole my bike out of my garage.

I spilled chardonnay on my laptop on the plane and now it is the hospital (aka apple store), to the tune of I-can’t-even-say-how-much.  Just suffice it say I had to go through the 7 stages of grief.

My kitchen sink is clogged. Like, really clogged.  Like, I think we have to get takeout tonight so I won’t make any more dirty dishes that I can’t wash.  Landlord is looking at it tonight, hoping it’s an easy fix.

What a week I’m having, right?

But then I got to go to NYC for 5 days in the middle of that and see my love.  And I have returned and I am very at peace.  {maybe not having the laptop for a few days is GOOD for me?}

It has been a tough couple months, trying to coordinate all of the moving parts for his move out here.  But after much worrying, and over thinking, and asking one million questions and generally driving him insane (not really, he is so patient with me)-I have decided to just let it be.  I am confident in what we have and whether it’s June, or August…it doesn’t really matter.  I am lucky.  So very lucky to have found him.

And after what always seems like the LONGEST DEAD SEASON EVER, the flowers are blooming, the birds are singing, and the phone is ringing.  Why do January, February, and March always seem to drag on so long?  Every year it happens and every year I fantasize about moving somewhere warm and green where I can shoot year round.

I’ve recently been inspired by this book and if you haven’t read it, you should.  Do you follow her blog?  I’ve been following her for years and to read her entire story in this book was fantastic. I couldn’t put it down.  Makes the week I just had seem pretty easy, really.

Oh and I think something is wrong with my printer now.  But I’ll leave you with this:

he's going to kill me for posting this.

Lots more where this came from on my Instagram feed.  Still plugging away with my Project 366, one day at a time.

Happy Wednesday!  And remember, it will all work out.  Really it will.

10 on 10 april edition

April 10, 2012

Well here it is another month gone by and I haven’t posted since last month’s 10 on 10!  Gah.  So many ideas in my head and I desperately want to express them here…but for some reason can’t put fingers to keyboard.  A little afraid, I think, to say what I really want to say.  But anyway…I took these images on Easter and I think it says alot about where we are right now.  Happy. Relaxed.  Comfortable in this rental home, and ok with maybe being here longer than we had originally planned.  A certain someone tells me this all the time and more every day I know it to be true:  everything is going to be ok.  It is.

My 10 on 10:

Easter Prep

Pretty flowers

Table set

Egg hunt

Fun with bubbles

The traditional dying of eggs.  Yuck.  I hate hard boiled eggs and throw them away as soon as we are done, every year.

Sisters

My Sue Sue.
