I have had a rough week but also a great week.

Someone stole my bike out of my garage.

I spilled chardonnay on my laptop on the plane and now it is the hospital (aka apple store), to the tune of I-can’t-even-say-how-much.  Just suffice it say I had to go through the 7 stages of grief.

My kitchen sink is clogged. Like, really clogged.  Like, I think we have to get takeout tonight so I won’t make any more dirty dishes that I can’t wash.  Landlord is looking at it tonight, hoping it’s an easy fix.

What a week I’m having, right?

But then I got to go to NYC for 5 days in the middle of that and see my love.  And I have returned and I am very at peace.  {maybe not having the laptop for a few days is GOOD for me?}

It has been a tough couple months, trying to coordinate all of the moving parts for his move out here.  But after much worrying, and over thinking, and asking one million questions and generally driving him insane (not really, he is so patient with me)-I have decided to just let it be.  I am confident in what we have and whether it’s June, or August…it doesn’t really matter.  I am lucky.  So very lucky to have found him.

And after what always seems like the LONGEST DEAD SEASON EVER, the flowers are blooming, the birds are singing, and the phone is ringing.  Why do January, February, and March always seem to drag on so long?  Every year it happens and every year I fantasize about moving somewhere warm and green where I can shoot year round.

I’ve recently been inspired by this book and if you haven’t read it, you should.  Do you follow her blog?  I’ve been following her for years and to read her entire story in this book was fantastic. I couldn’t put it down.  Makes the week I just had seem pretty easy, really.

Oh and I think something is wrong with my printer now.  But I’ll leave you with this:

Sometimes being a professional photographer is hard.  We’ve all read on facebook, on the blogs…our market is oversaturated and each one of us has to work 1,000 times harder to eek out even a tiny corner for ourselves.  We are flooded with sub-par images and news that so-in-so is charging 50 cents for an entire disc of images!  Yay!  And then we start to doubt ourselves.  Maybe I’m doing something wrong.  And there’s a barrage of people telling us what we NEED to do.  Take a workshop!  Buy this template!  Rebrand yourself!  It’s all just so much noise…and after lunching with a friend the other day and discussing this exact topic…I decided to just unplug for the rest of the day.  I needed silence.  So I did a few things:

I picked up poop in the backyard.  Not the most glamorous, but boy is it nice to look out there and see a clean yard, now that the snow is melting.

I did some dishes.

I sat in my girls rooms and admired the mess, the non made beds that were supposed to be made, and thought about what good people they are.

I cleaned my dirty tub.

I took a nap.

I cleaned out mr frog’s tank.  Disgusting.  I can’t even talk about it.

I thought about how much I love these chairs from ikea.

I straightened up my closet.  This actually looks GOOD.  Couldn’t even walk in there before.

I finally sewed up a hole in a sweater that had been sitting out for a month.

And you know what?  I felt better.  Because sitting in front of the computer seeing what everyone else is doing on facebook or what everyone else is shooting or charging isn’t helping me one bit.  Taking care of me, my home, my kids…does help.  The business will come.

I was there for an in-home lifestyle newborn session with baby brother and could.not.resist sister on this white bed.

Happy Friday all…I’m headed to the mountains with some wonderful friends.  P.S. I don’t ski.  But you can guarantee there is some wine & shopping & snowshoeing in my future!

These are my favorite kinds of sessions. Being able to witness a family together, in their own environment, playing and interacting. Such a gift to be allowed to capture this.

Some frame FAQ:

What sizes are available?

• Pretty much any size … 2×3 to 30×40 and everything in-between!

What do the frames include?

• All frames come with backing and flexible tabs, all you have to do is pop your photo in. Each frame also comes complete with hanging hardware- either alligator hooks or hanging wire depending on the weight and size of the frame. Please specify if your frame is going to be hung horizontally or vertically so they can properly attach the hardware. Lastly, rubber bumpers are placed on the bottom corners of each frame as well. All you have to do is slide your photo in- no framing supplies or framing store needed!

When should I expect my frame order to arrive?

• Typically frames are cut, painted and shipped all within 2-3 weeks of placing your order. The company uses FedEx Ground, which has a 1-3 day shipping/delivery. Please allow up to 4 weeks to receive your frame after placing your order.

Do the frames come with glass?

• No. They are designed to hold your photo without normal glass; however, you can purchase non-glare 1/8″ acrylic to fit in the frames. The cost depends on the size of the frame you choose. I prefer them without glass, with a mounted print-when you order them from me my price includes the print.

Do I have to be a Lisa Turner Photography client to purchase a frame?

• No. Anyone can place an order, whether you have booked a session with me or not!

I can’t believe this project is over. I can’t believe I stuck with it for the entire year (yes, I skipped a week here and there, but for the most part stuck with it!). It was so great to get a sneak peek into the lives of the other ladies in our circle…gals who I never would have known otherwise. They all became “virtual” friends…and I will miss them!

I will not be doing a project 52 in 2012…instead I am trying a new project 10 on 10 which will occur on the 10th of every month. A tiny bit less commitment. I am also doing a project 365 on Instagram…if you are on Instagram…I’m lgturner. If you are not on Instagram…well you are just missing out! All the cool kids are doing it.
