Captured at home…

January 30, 2012

Clients often ask me why they would want an in-home session vs. a location session. And I thought I would share this session to illustrate. I was contacted by this Denver family to photograph their two littles (and I mean little, and very close in age) at home. Why? Because they are just barely over a year apart. Because they feel most comfortable at home. Because they felt if we took them to a location we would get 2 very quiet, deer in the headlights children…as opposed to 2 running around, smiling, playing children. And so…I present to you, this glimpse into the life:

This family chose the collection which included an album. I think this is the best way to truly tell the story of our session together.

These are my favorite kinds of sessions. Being able to witness a family together, in their own environment, playing and interacting. Such a gift to be allowed to capture this.

big family in the snow!

January 16, 2012

If you’ve ever considered having professional pictures taken when your whole family is in town…DO IT. I know this family was so glad they did. One brother was visiting from Nepal! Truly a rare occurrence to have this group all together. We were not deterred by the serious snow that happened just a few days earlier!

Organic Bloom Frames!

January 11, 2012

I am proud to be offering these one-of-a-kind frames from The Organic Bloom!

Want a framing option that is unique and you will not find anywhere else? You have come to the right place!  They come in every. possible. color you can dream of.  Hot pink for your little one’s room?  Cream for over your fireplace?  You name it.  I met two gals from the company, Andrea and Rachel, at the NAPCP retreat last summer…and you couldn’t find two nicer people.  They truly believe in their company and this product, and it shows in the quality of these frames!  They make for stunning wall displays in your home…everyone will be asking about them!

One of my goals for 2012 is to help my clients get their images on their walls!  Thinking about my disc sitting in someone’s desk, under a pile of papers, makes me sad.  You took the time to book the session, pay for the session, get everyone dressed (including your not-so-enthusiastic husband)…why in the world wouldn’t you want to display your images on your walls?  BIG!  Let me help you.

I am offering 30 minute design consults IN YOUR HOME for $99.  But wait-it gets better.  If you decide to purchase frames from me-you can apply the $99 to your order!  If you decide to do the framing yourself…no worries…you get my wisdom and advice for 30 minutes!  I can even come during happy hour and we can have some wine!   ha.

See below the different frame styles and colors!

Some frame FAQ:

What sizes are available?

  • Pretty much any size … 2×3 to 30×40 and everything in-between!

What do the frames include?

  • All frames come with backing and flexible tabs, all you have to do is pop your photo in. Each frame also comes complete with hanging hardware- either alligator hooks or hanging wire depending on the weight and size of the frame. Please specify if your frame is going to be hung horizontally or vertically so they can properly attach the hardware. Lastly, rubber bumpers are placed on the bottom corners of each frame as well. All you have to do is slide your photo in- no framing supplies or framing store needed!

When should I expect my frame order to arrive?

  • Typically frames are cut, painted and shipped all within 2-3 weeks of placing your order. The company uses FedEx Ground, which has a 1-3 day shipping/delivery. Please allow up to 4 weeks to receive your frame after placing your order.

Do the frames come with glass?

  • No. They are designed to hold your photo without normal glass; however, you can purchase non-glare 1/8″ acrylic to fit in the frames. The cost depends on the size of the frame you choose. I prefer them without glass, with a mounted print-when you order them from me my price includes the print.

Do I have to be a Lisa Turner Photography client to purchase a frame?

  • No. Anyone can place an order, whether you have booked a session with me or not!

10 on 10 project | January

January 10, 2012

This year I am participating in a group “10 on 10″ project. And for the first month…well I did it wrong. We are supposed to take 1 picture each hour on the 10th of the month; however, I thought it was 10 pictures of a particular theme. And since I was headed to Vegas last Friday I didn’t have time to redo it…I guess I could have done 10 images hourly of Vegas, but I’m sure that breaks some sort of Vegas code ;)

Anyway-here is my 10 on 10-The Morning Shuffle:

1. Late already  2. Hairdo is very important  3. Beds must be made!  4. Belt help, Mom?  5. Breakfast 6&7. Backpacks  8. Water Bottles  9.  In the car  10. Car loop

Head on to the next blog:  Ana Luisa Solis and see her 10 on 10 for January!

Well a year has gone by, this was also the week 1 theme and I have discovered…I am still not good at self portraits! Like 1000 terrible, blurry, ridiculous images and I managed to scrape together these two.

I can’t believe this project is over. I can’t believe I stuck with it for the entire year (yes, I skipped a week here and there, but for the most part stuck with it!). It was so great to get a sneak peek into the lives of the other ladies in our circle…gals who I never would have known otherwise. They all became “virtual” friends…and I will miss them!

I will not be doing a project 52 in 2012…instead I am trying a new project 10 on 10 which will occur on the 10th of every month. A tiny bit less commitment. I am also doing a project 365 on Instagram…if you are on Instagram…I’m lgturner. If you are not on Instagram…well you are just missing out! All the cool kids are doing it.

Check out the next photog: Melissa Deakin and see her take on this week’s theme!
