In the interest of trying new things (see my last post-I Photographed a Preschool!), I took an amazing online class in January called Everyday Films.   To say I learned allll the things about documentary family films, would be an understatement.  I have dabbled in the video function on my dSLR before, but never fully understood what it really took to create a beautiful family film.  I can’t WAIT to share this feature with my clients.   Check out my final project from the class:

Life With Marley from Lisa Turner Photography on Vimeo.

You are probably asking yourself, why did she make a film about her DOG.  Well, when you have teenagers, you are sometimes lacking for subjects.  And every time I took out my camera, guess who was right there.  Marley!   She really is the center of everyone’s universe around here.

So…if you have read this far, guess what?  There’s a chance to get something for F-R-E-E.  I realize that a new medium is kind of a risk-you are not sure what to expect, and my skills are new.  So, to ease you into this process-I would love to give one lucky family a FREE documentary photo/video session.  Yes that’s right.  FREE.  The first person to comment on my Facebook post gets it (local families only, sorry!).   The next 5 families who comment, will get a session for the discounted introductory price of $450 (all inclusive).  After that, the price will go up.  I plan to offer this as an option alongside my regular photo sessions, to include both your family photos, as well as a fusion film of both your photos and video.

You guys.  I sooooo wish I had something like this of my children when they were little.  I mean we have home movies (which are currently all on tiny tapes that now have to be converted, but that’s a whole other story).  But they are just that-home movies, with no thought to light, or composition, or the tiny details of our lives at that time.  And for the most part, I am not in them.   It’s wonderful to have beautiful photos of your family-but with video, those images come to life.   Truly.

So cool that you are offering this service!

Hello all!

You may remember last year, I did a model call for preschool aged children-to put together materials for local preschools.  I wanted to offer my brand of children’s photography to the otherwise boring, uninspired world of school photography.  Many of you had your children model for me, and then graciously took my materials to your schools.  What I found was that many schools are resistant to changing from the “old” system.  If it’s not broken, why fix it–and I get that.  But one school was open to something new and different-and last fall, I photographed Montview Preschool and Kindergarten.  The parents LOVED these authentic, beautiful pictures of their children.  And really, look at these kiddos!  How can you not be in love.

Parents also enjoyed the ease and convenience of my online ordering system, and the immediate availability of digital files.  Print packages were offered as well.   No preordering-everyone was able to view their child’s photos before deciding.  For this school, we did outdoor photos in their courtyard.  But depending on the school and the weather-a solid, classic background is offered as well.

I would love to add one more school for the 2017-2018 school year!  If you think your school is ready to think outside the school photography “box”–and would be open to talking to me, please let me know!

You guys, I am on point!  I have blogged once a week for the last three weeks!  I feel like I can conquer the world.  Mondays are my day-let’s hope I can keep this up.  I have sooo many sessions to share in the cue…including this one from fall 2015.   This Mom contacted me wanting to document the special relationship between her and her daughter.  We bonded over the subject of divorce, as she was working through one herself–and I can totally understand that place. She wanted to document the two of them, and their life in its new form.  The love they share is obvious-check it:

And her daughter-so beautiful, right?!?!  I hope I will be photographing her senior pictures one day soon!  Stay tuned for their fall 2016 session….

For 2017, I am going to start highlighting some of the lovely families who are part of my A Year in the Life plan.  This plan is totally customizable–you only need a minimum of 2 sessions to create a plan.  Pick only the sessions you want!  All first year plan members receive a gorgeous 10×10 hardcover album at the end, telling the story of baby’s first year.

This family celebrated the birth of their third child by choosing newborn, 6 month and 1 year sessions.

Newborn–October 2015

All of my newborn sessions are done in-home.  My goal is to capture LIFE at this time.  If you are looking for a posed, sleeping newborn-I am probably not the photographer for you!  If you desire authentic family interactions-you’ve come to the right place.

and yes-I happily photograph siblings while baby is being fed!

Stay tuned for the next post in this series–Brooke’s summertime 6 month session!

Every year in September, I am honored to be a photographer at the Children’s Museum of Denver’s Say Cheese event!  Since I was there last year, they have made some awesome improvements, both indoors and out!  The expanded outdoor space gave us so many new fun spots for shooting.  Here’s a sampling of the three fabulous families I worked with that day!
