project 52 | week 7 | denver family photographer

This week’s theme:  beginnings

Where do I even start with this.  I got divorced at the end of last year, after 14 years of marriage.  You can read more about this here. I can’t even begin to describe how difficult the process was.  It was like jumping into a great abyss.  And right in the middle of busy season, I might add!  Slowly but surely, month by month…I started putting the pieces of my life back together.  I moved into a little apartment…and while it is by no means even close to the size of the home I lived in before…it is cute and it is cozy and I like it.  What really mattered though, was if my girls were going to like it too.  This is a very scary thing.  What if they hate it…what will I do.  So this picture is an illustration of what I had hoped for…for my girls to be comfortable here.  And as you can see, they are.  It’s a new beginning.

Technical note: this is certainly not my best work and was taken in the evening at ISO one million, hence the noisy-ness.  But I love it anyway.

Head on over to check out the next photog, Southeast Wyoming newborn, child, senior and family photographer, Kate!

Wow, Lisa. I find it so brave to be so upfront about your divorce and your feelings and all that you are going through. I can just tell by the way you write, that you are a very strong woman. Your girls are lucky to have you. I remember how weird it was when my parents got divorced, our first Christmas – staying at my dad’s new house… everything was new. Definitely a beginning.

Oh, and I love the shot, even if it was taken at iso one million!!!
