project 52 | week 19 | SOOC

Clients reading this are probably going, what in the heck is SOOC? Well that means, Straight Out Of Camera. Which sometimes for a photographer, is a scary thing to broadcast to the world. However, if you are getting your exposures right in camera, then it shouldn’t be so scary. Less Photoshop is definitely more. Here is mine:

This was taken at a client’s home, with a pop up black backdrop…window light behind me and to camera right. For you pros: F/2, 1/200, ISO 2000 (bless you Canon 5D, Mark II!) Best camera ever in my opinion, for low light. Virtually no noise.

Here is the finished image. Typically I process these black background images as black & white. This was converted in Lightroom using Nichole Van’s presets.

  • great SOOC image, and you are so right, it is a scary thing to broadcast. I remember reading that theme and thinking ugh! I am not looking forward to that one! 🙂 But yours- it is nothing to be afraid to share!

    Great sooc! Maybe i need to consider lightroom! I like nichole’s actions… Great feel to the photo ! That baby looks blissfully happy!

    that is an incredibly beautiful shot, and I’m always amazed at what a pro camera can do with such a high iso! Amazing. Your photo looks pretty perfect even before your edit!
